Rakeam Jones is the second Gilmore College Clontarf Academy student to complete a school based trainee ship this month, with Work Smart. Rakeam had a love for working with his hands in the outdoors and so was signed up in September last year to do a Cert II in Horticulture ASBT with the City of Kwinana as the host employer. Rakeam worked with the Horticulture team out of the Operations Depot. By completing this pre-apprenticeship level qualification and gaining real on the job experience working in a professional horticulture team one day a week during high school, Rakeam has proven himself as a genuine candidate for employers like Kwinana City that may be looking to take on Horticulture Apprentices in 2019.
Pictured in the photo is Rakeam Jones being presented his Certificate qualification on behalf of the RTO by Tony French (Coordinator of Parks) for the City of Kwinana. It’s fitting the photo was taken in the grounds of the City of Kwinana Administration building, because maintaining and beautifying this area was one of responsibilities of the horticulture team that Rakeam worked with.
