Ebony Williams commenced with ATC Work Smart as a year 10 School Based Trainee (indigenous) on 17/2/17 and was placed with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions Donnelly Region (Pemberton.) Ebony officially completed her Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management in March this year. The Team at the DBCA including her mentors Jeff Kempton and Tracey Robbins can’t speak highly enough of Ebony and are encouraging her to stay in touch even when she is at UNI as they would like her back someday.
Ebony won the Southern Regional TAFE award for excellence and can be seen holding it in the photo. She was the youngest recipient on the night. Our Training and Business Development Officer based in Bunbury, Tracie Yardley said Ebony epitomises what an SBT is all about and what can be achieved with hard work. The DBCA recently held a morning tea for Ebony and 15 staff attended all of whom had had some contact with Ebony.
Tracey and Jeff advised that this was a pilot SBT program for DBCA and thanks to the success they had with Ebony they would like more SBT’s in the future and are currently looking into this as a regional approach.
