Big thank you to Host Employer – Beatty Park Leisure Centre

Big thank you to Host Employer – Beatty Park Leisure Centre

Beatty Park is a swimming pool complex in the suburb of North Perth. Originally known as the Beatty Park Aquatic Centre, it was built for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games as the major swimming event venue, along with the Perry Lakes Stadium athletics complex.  This year Beatty Park has been a Host Employer for Martha Wilmot from Applecross SHS who has just completed a Certificate 3 in Sport and Recreation as a School based Traineeship with ATC Work Smart.  ATC Work Smart takes industrial relations responsibility for the school based trainees we hire, and host employers simply pay an invoice each fortnight and provide a safe workplace with on the job training for the term of the SBT training contract.  Beatty Park was a fantastic host employer and a great venue for Martha to gain on the job training and work experience.  Marth will continue her studies and career in the Sport and Recreation industry when she completes school in 2 weeks’ time.  Thank you Beatty Park.

Rhys starts School Based Traineeship in Hospitality

Rhys starts the first day of his school based traineeship after a signup meeting this week at his school.  Rhys will be completing a Certificate 2 in Hospitality and his host employer will be The Coffee Club Wexford.  In the ATC Work Smart SBT program Rhys will work one day a week out of school at Coffee Club.  The RTO trainer will visit Rhys every month at work to check his progress with his theory booklets and to assess his workplace competencies against each of the units in the training plan.  The nationally recognised Certificate 2 qualification will contribute towards Rhys’s WACE and Rhys will develop valuable transportable employability skills across the term of the traineeship.  ATC Work Smart facilitates a successful outcome and high completion rates by working closely with all the stakeholders (RTO, AASN, SBT, parents, school and host employer).  We wish Rhys all the best for his SBT experience over the next 12 months.

Increased Incentives for Employers for School Based Traineeships from 1st of July

Pictured in the photo is Crystal being presented with a Certificate of Achievement by ATC Work Smart Field Officer Paul Hickey.

Congratulations to Crystal Gillard-Buswell from Newton Moore Senior High School in Bunbury for recently completing her School Based Traineeship in Business.  A big thank you to Nicki and the team at WA Country Heath Services at the Bunbury Hospital that provided on the job training to support the Certificate 2 in Business Qualification studied by Crystal.  WA Country Health has been a fantastic supporter of high school students in School Based Traineeships in the South West.  Not only did Crystal obtain a fully funded qualification that she used towards her WACE, but she also obtained great real life work experience and great references to put on her resume when she starts looking for work after completing Year 12 in late September this year.

From the 1st of July the WA Government and the Department of Training and Workforce Development have announced new financial incentives for employers to take on Apprentices and Trainees including School Based Trainees.  If you are an employer and you have an interest in supporting young people in the local community please contact ATC Work Smart for advice on how we can support you with  Apprenticeships, Traineeships and School Based Traineeships.
